OUR STORY
DreamWorld Studios for the Arts launched its first program in 2014 and was later incorporated as an official 501(c)(3) organization in May 2015. Its mission is to build a bridge between the arts and the community.
The founder, Dominique Devereaux, noticed a decline in arts classes in urban schools in Michigan, due to budget cuts. In response, DWSA aims to restore the arts in communities by implementing programs that introduce youth and the community to the arts, encouraging long-term engagement and career pursuits in this field. To fulfill this mission, DreamWorld has organized Morning Dance Parties, Artist Career Talks, and the after-school dance program, DANCE Project, along with hosting public events like Open Mic Night, an End of the Year Dance Recital, and participation in the East Lansing Arts Festival.
The Dazzling Diamonds dance program began in February 2023 at the Foster Community Center and transitioned to the REACH Studio Art Center in April 2023. With a focus on empowering student voice, the original group of participants collaborated to choose the team name and voted to decide the team colors. Since its inception, the program has engaged over twenty five participants, providing them with weekly instruction for four months or more at a time.
